Ione is a character in Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude. She is one of the first three girls you can interact with in the game.
She is also the niece of Assistant Dean Abrahamson.
Appearance[]
Ione has brown hair and pale white skin. She wears glasses, a green turtleneck sweater with a black cat on the front, a long black skirt, and brown sandals. After her "makeover", her hair is dyed red and she wears a leopard-print strapless crop top, a black miniskirt, thigh-high fishnet tights, and black stripper heels. After coming out as a lesbian, she removed the red dye from her hair returning to its natural brown hair color, she wears a garçon style haircut, and she wears a pink shirt with a rainbow cat on the front, blue jogging pants, and her original sandals.
History[]
One of the first women Larry Lovage interacts with in Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, is Ione. She is studying in the library, but Larry makes a prank call next to her. He makes a fraudulent order for an erotic cake in Assistant Dean Abrahamson's name. Ione finds this funny, and Larry goes on to recall another prank. Pretending to be Abrahamson, Larry convinced the assistant dean's wife to donate an expensive bottle of cognac to a soup kitchen. As he wraps up the story, the assistant dean appears behind them. He tells Ione of his plan to use the cognac at tomorrow's dinner with the chancellor of the college. Abrahamson then tells Larry to stop bothering his niece and leaves. Ione pleads with Larry to get the bottle back before her aunt gets in trouble.
Larry heads out to the quad and notices The Commissar has the cognac. Commissar states that he paid 28 cents for it, but will sell it to Larry for 500 dollars. Larry does not have that money, so Commissar challenges him to a dance off instead. Larry wins the cognac and brings it to Ione in her room.
After returning the bottle, Larry notices that Ione has poetry books in her room. She states that she is into feminist poetry, though many men do not like that. Larry responds that “well, feminism is a waste of time…but it’s cool that you are into poetry.” He recites a poem based around penis imagery. If the player completes the game successfully, Ione declares it “brilliant.” After more conversation, Ione agrees to play quarters with Larry (which triggers another minigame). If he wins, she gets drunk and they they go back to her room.
During another conversation, Larry not-too-subtly points out the flaws in her appearance. While Ione hopes to end up with someone who loves her as she is, Larry talks her into letting him give her a makeover. Ione asks him to keep it tasteful, but Larry ends up dressing her in a skimpy outfit and trashy-looking makeup. After this, Ione tells Larry that she feels “stimulated” and asks Larry to have sex with her using a strap-on dildo. She explains that she’s never had sex with a man before, as she’s saving herself for someone she finds attractive, and “this way I get to have the experience with a man, but still keep my virginity.” He agrees (though the scene is blacked out), though keeps insisting on using “the real thing.” When the lights come on (as her roommate, Luba, enters), it is revealed that he put the strap-on on her teddy bear and was puppeting it while eating Luba's Funyuns. Ione screams in horror at accidentally desecrating her childhood toy and Larry quickly leaves the room. The player then earns a “token of affection,” a trophy in the form of a teddy bear head.
Ione later confronts Larry at the Spartacus gay bar. Due to another outfit change and a haircut, Larry does not recognize her at first. Ione gives Larry a court order, and says that he should look for a new place to work since she will be going to Spartacus more often. When the bar's manager asks what happened to make Ione so mad, Larry and Ione perform "Lesbian Nights." After the incident she had with Larry about putting a strap-on dildo on her teddy bear, she began to feel attracted to Luba, her roommate, discovering that she is actually a lesbian. Ione cuts him off and starts berating him some more. Larry blurts out that he is gay and his attraction to men is why he did what he did. After Safety Officer Beazer unintentionally corroborates his story, Ione stops being mad and offers to make it up to him. Larry suggests a sleepover with Ione's lesbian and bisexual friends, and one agrees.
Later in Luba and Ione's room, Larry asks them if they're "an item." Ione says that she and Luba, who is bisexual, are "more than just roommates." She then says that she is "tired" and plans on getting Luba and herself to bed. Larry heads out, wishing them a good night. The game then shows Ione and Luba having drunken sex while Larry, who snuck back into the room, watches. He interrupts after stripping, though insisting it shouldn’t matter because he’s gay. Ione runs out of the room screaming at the sight of him. Larry then tries to hit on Luba, but she passes out drunk on the bed. When the scene ends, Larry gets another “token” in the form of a double-ended dildo.
