Apple Man (or Man in the Barrel) is the name for the character in the original LSL Hintbook. He is known as Barrel Man in LSLR.
Talking to him in the original LSL, and asking him his name he'll say his name is Steve, and his friends call him Woz. This is a reference to Steve Wozniak. One of the original founders of Apple Computers,and invented the Apple I and Apple II computers. Hence, 'Apple Man'.
